They aren’t difficult to use, but it is finicky to wind lace weight yarn on one for a knitting machine.

I was just having a bad day. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Are the ball winders really hard to use? I just asked my dad for one as a gift for Christmas. I’m really looking forward to getting started on my knitting.

Thanks for the pattern. It’s a lovely prairie bonnet. I am also a prairie girl (flatlander) but I currently live in Alberta. I used to live near Saskatoon and still have a fondness for that city. It’s so pretty!

You are right, I don’t think it is a word, but I don’t like to think of the English language as a static thing, but a living entity that changes with people’s needs over time.

I had a VERY old British Mohair yarn, and the Pink Leafy scarf pattern worked just fine.

I even added some fringes to it.
