Lyra’s cap

I was so smitten by the costumes in the Golden Compass, and for this cap at least, one wonders: how often can something so desirable be achieved so easily? I whipped this up in an evening and thought I would share.

If you are lucky you will even have some yarn in your stash that will work.

what gauge is the big fat yarn you used? Is it super-bulky, so that whatever that Lion Brand yarn is that’s really fat would work? (sorry if this is intelligible.)

The gauge for this pattern is 7.5 stitches and 10 rows in 4 inches or 10cm. I would say that any yarn with suggested gauge of 7 – 8 stitches to 4 inches or 10cm would be fine.

I am not familiar with the yarn you are asking about, but if the suggested gauge is close and you like it, it will probably work.

I hope you enjoy the pattern and your hat.

I loved those knits too! thanks for working up the pattern!

You’re welcome. They really were great weren’t they.

I knit this last night, just in time for it to act like fall today. Really fun to knit and to wear. Thank you for this pattern.

hi just wondering is this pattern for the adult size?

Yes, it is the adult size.

I’d really love to try knitting this hood but the pattern isn’t showing up on my screen!
Help! :o)

Where did the pattern go – I could wing it except for the trim around the face and the ties. Is this still available????

Please post the pattern. I would love to try it. It is so cute!! I think my daughter would love it for a birthday present in February. Thanks.
